Umezu Movie Posters

When we first started this blog, I did a few posts on my Japanese movie poster and flyer collection but stopped for reasons I can't remember. More than likely I just forgot, but I'm back on track! Here are a couple cross collectible gems on display in the TSB laboratory:

Chikan: A Real Pain in the Ass

According to this article, the police are putting the squeeze on train perverts in a week-long national campaign to rub out the groping problem. Unsurprisingly, several chikan were pinched almost immediately.

While I am no molestation advocate, I would hate to see the day when my station isn't plastered in these always awesome posters:

"Your courage could save her ass"

"Now leaving Molesterville, next stop Prisonland"
(That's an extremely loose translation)

If JR really cared, they would get with the times and make ladies only cars. Anyone out there have a chikan story? I was reverse-molested on the Shonan-Shinjuku line last year by a lady in her forties.

Suzy, Do You Know Anything About... Chirashi?

Chirashi of the Dead

From our personal collection, here are a couple vintage Japanese movie fliers for Romero's Dead series.

The graphic violence depicted on them must have been as shocking to people at that time as the fact that Japanese movie ticket prices haven't change at all since 1978 is to us now!

While Dawn of the Dead was just called Zombie here as it was in Europe, Day of the Dead got a much cooler name: Food for the Dead! The catch lines on these were beefed up for the Japanese market, too. The one on Dawn reads "Give us meat, YOUNG meat!" and Day says "The living have become prey to be hunted down and feasted upon by the returned dead."
